23:15 - 00:00 Concert: SASHA WILDE Sasha Wilde is a Lithuanian-born, London-based trans / non-binary artist, musician, producer, vocalist, writer and translator.
Together with producer Julian Wharton, they created KERAI *CHARMS", an avantpop / ethereal music duo whose debut album "Show Me a Future Where I Can Live" was released this year. Over the past few years, Sasha Wilde has collaborated with artists and film directors to help release music clips for the songs Origin, Evolution, and Heaven and Songs. They were featured in Out magazine, on the PromoNews TV page, at the Trans Day of Joy event.
The latest result of the collaboration is a costume created by designer-artist Jackie Pratt, with whom Sasha embodies a clergyman figure descended to earth from a distant planet and / or future. A future where everyone can live. Both KERAI and Sasha’s solo music talk about queer love, aliens, ghosts, (transphobic) monsters and other world creatures.
At the Sappho Festival, Sasha will present songs from the KERAI album and from the still-recorded solo album "Speechless But Visionary" (working title).

CREATIVE RESEARCH* Led by: Augustė ir Emilija

Fatphobia is an oppressive force that every human being endures at least once in their lifetime (thousands of times, more likely). Unfortunately, it is so normalized in our society that you can rarely see anyone actively fight fatphobia, or even present it as a problem.
That’s why we want to start the conversation about this form of discrimination and try to change the traditional harmful narrative about the human body.
It will be an ongoing project starting at Sapfo Fest, where we’ll be collecting stories of everyone who wants to share their experience of living in a fatphobic world.

**MOVIES Lesbiana: A parallel Revolution
film by Myriam Fougère (Canada, 2017, 60 minutes)

A parallel, lesbian-feminist revolution was born out of the women’s and civil rights movements of the 60’s and 70’s. Filmmaker Myriam Fougère’s takes us on a road trip through the United States and Canada as she revisits the activists of the time who sparked this revolution to define their own culture. As active second-wave feminists, many lesbian women began to recognize that their sexual identity was not acknowledged or embraced by the traditional women’s movement. These artists, musicians, philosophers, and writers sought to establish communities centred exclusively on women where patriarchy simply did not exist.

Feminista
film by Myriam Fougère (Canada, 2017, 60 minutes)
FEMINISTA is a lively and inspiring feminist road movie that explores the largely unrecognized yet hugely vibrant pan European feminist movement. Filmmaker Myriam Fougère joined an international group of young feminists who were traveling across twenty countries – from Turkey to Portugal, by way of the Balkans, to Italy, Spain and Portugal – to make connections and unite forces with other women. She witnessed these determined activists participating in political gatherings, supporting homegrown local feminist struggles, exchanging strategies, and inventing new ways to resist and fight for change.

“EILEEN GRAY: THE ART OF STAYING IN" By: Gabrielė Petrovičiūtė

Eileen Gray (1878 - 1976) was a a furniture designer and architect of the International Modern movement, active in France the first part of the 20th century.
She is one of the rare female artists mentioned among male pioneers of this movement and is usually talked about in relation to male figures. Still, her works are different. This might be related to her bisexuality, different gender expression and relations with the then active sapphic community. Let’s talk about the education of female artists, about their community and see some of the Gray’s works.

12:30 - 14:00 "TALK: MINORITY STRESS AND INTERNALISED HOMOPHOBIA/TRANSPHOBIA - WHAT IS THAT?" By: Grytė Ruzgė

You might have heard of the concepts of minority stress and internalised homophobia, nevertheless sometimes it is hard to define how hard these experiences affect us. It becomes more viscous when all the preexisting hate for LGBT people and hearsay comes to the surface, the occurrence of which we can witness now.
In this meeting we will discuss how it affects our lives. Although, what we will do with it all depends on ourselves. This is the perfect topic not only for the deeper understanding of oneself, but also perfect ground for creative findings or activism initiatives.

"SELF-DEFENCE CLASS FOR WOMEN BY WOMAN" By: Ieva Ruzgytė.

Self-defence – a reaction to the dangerous person or situation. In times when we get exposed to danger our brain tends to get into one of the following modes – fight, flight or freeze. Freezing might be fatal in the moment of danger, therefore we will have a discussion about possible action plans and techniques which could help and empower to move, even though our brains would refuse to cooperate.
My name is Ieva Ruzgyte and I will be the one taking you on this exciting self-defence one-hour journey. I’ve been learning self-defence since my childhood; I was practicing Judo and Sambo for more than 15 years. Theoretical knowledge I gained in Sports University during my bachelor studies as a Martial arts coach. In Lithuanian military training centres, I was lucky to gain some combat self-defence experience. If you have any questions – feel free to contact me via email: apsigink.kaunas@gmail.com.

What should you bring with you? Comfy clothes, good mood and water.

Another part of the activity is therapy consisting of therapeutic flying and Thai massage. It is time to relax, liberate the body and increase its mobility.

AcroYoga is suitable for everyone! No experience in yoga or acrobatics is required.

Conversation-discussion: "HOW TO FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO BE: LGBT+ ACTIVISM AMIDST "RAINBOW WARS" AND QUARANTINE” The pandemic year gave everything to the Lithuanian LGBT + community: from hope to finally regulate partnership to family marches and "rainbow wars" in underground passages.
In the context of intensified value-based (political) confrontation, it is obvious that Baltic Pride every three years is not enough. There is an increasing need for everyday visibility, grassroots resistance and activism.
But what activism does our LGBT+ community need and what resistance and persuasion strategies are most effective in Lithuania society?
During the conversation, we will discuss how grassroots initiatives are emerging in Lithuania, what they are or should be like. We will also look for answers: what does it mean for us to be political and what visibility would we like to project for ourselves? How did all of this activism happen amidst the quarantine? Finally, how do we move this to the (hopefully) post-quarantine state?

The conversation will be attended by the initiators of the protest actions and new formats that have emerged in recent years:
- Karolina Rimkutė and Linas Salučka, creators of Vilnius underground "Rainbow Passage"
- Ieva Budreikaitė and Ona Stasiulevičiūtė, initiators of the campaign of graffiti supporting LGBTQ+ community in Vilnius and Kaunas, protest action “Detox: bike riding and picnic for LGBTQ+ family rights”
- Aei Jur, one of Vilnius Pride 2020 organisers
- KAUNAS PRIDE representative (TBC)
- Ada Balčiūnaitė and Ernesta Smilingytė, University LGBT+ Group Chairperson and Board Member

"BOOK LAUNCH: "IN FOCUS: WOMEN IN LITHUANIAN FILM" AND QUEER IMAGERY IN SOVIET CINEMA" By: Natalija Arlauskaitė

It is believed that the Soviet cinema was basically fully controlled by and equally fully submitted to the order of the heteronormative gender. However, in the recent years more and more attention is directed towards the deviations, however few, of this cinema from the predominant order: to the instantaneous slip-outs, ambiguities, or – initially unnoticeable – double bottom.
Together we will examine under what conditions these sexual excesses get noticed and how they could be eventually analysed in the Soviet cinema.
The starting point for this talk is a recently published book "In Focus: Women in Lithuanian Film" ("Lapas", ed. Natalija Arlauskaitė, Lina Kaminskaitė).

Activities “Dialog” are based on the principle of slow process, intense connection and exercises for concentration. Usually, the time length of these exercises starts from 5 hours per day, although during the festival we will introduce you to the main principles that will serve as the extract from the workshop.

Activity will take only 2 hours, however we would ask you to keep quiet and wear sensible outfit during all time throughout the workshop.

"NYMPHOLOGY // SYNAESTHESIS + Q&A" (eng. subtitles) One of the many meanings of the word ‘nymph’ is a woman of a suitable age for marriage. This is the age at which composers Monika Sokaitė, Juta Pranulytė, Agnė Matulevičiutė and performers Diemantė Merkevičiūtė, Monika Kiknadzė, and Marta Finkelštein embarked on a creative collaboration the focus of which is the study of women in music.
The works presented to the audience reflect a wide range of topics: from the representation of women’s lust and image to a life-building relationship with a mother. The main aim of this project is to expand room for an open discussion about gender in music as well as to complement the creative representation of women in the context of international festivals and the repertoire of the ensemble “Synaesthesis”.

Note! When a well-known musician in Lithuania was asked why there are no female works in his curated programme, he replied: “I’m not looking for a wife, am I?” We want to assure you that even though this concert consists of pieces created by women, its aim is not related to the search of a spouse

Screening will be followed by Q&A with artists.

"IŠGIRSTI INVITES TO QUEER HISTORY WORKSHOP! " By: Augustas Čičelis ir Viktorija Kolbešnikova.

It is no secret that when exploring the history of Queer Lithuania, we encounter gaps and silence. There are loads of experiences that remain untold and unwritten. How to tell about yourself when you have nothing to resist or when queer stories come from foreign Lithuanian channels and magazines? How do you put that contextual specificity that can be applied to a living space, a room, a secret box that holds private items that keep your secret? Maybe there must be blogs that most sensitively remind you of your queer experience? And what about photos or a piece of bedding?
We invite you for an intimate conversation about what our story is to us, what things mediate our crooked experiences and make them meaningful.

Bring what you can share your story and discoveries. In a pile of subjective stories, we are brought together and separated by which commonality and accents in the skirts. If at this time, we ask you to leave the items with us. We promise that they will find their own ways of telling stories to others about themselves and will contribute to the Queer archive collection.

KOŽA Music is an interesting, and, we’d say, often misunderstood medium. From the very beginning of our culture, music has been integral to human existance - through music, through the beating, dull rhythms, played by ancient shamans, humans communicated with their collective and individual cubconsciousness, finding gods, stories, heroes and answers to unthinkable questions within themselves in the moments of dizzying trance.
Music is misunderstood, to us, as this idea has been lost in the music making process these days - much of what we hear is engineered and produced without this subconscious element, lessening the ritualistic connection with the listener and making music less of an art and more of a product. We (Karolis and Olegas) formed Koža to reevaluate this approach and rediscover this primality in music as, we think, the value of rituals hasn’t been lost on our society - just the way on how we approach them and how we view them has changed. Our music comes from various deliberately irrational explorations - dreams, automatic writing, free association, psychonalaysis, etc., we then dress these experiments into sonic landscapes full of energy and spontaneity, trying to address the listener to take off their own rationality (thus the name Koža - a slang word for jacket or skin in Lithuanian) and join in on our electronics tinged ritualistic trances and dance together as we did thousands of years before.

So why not join the forces? You probably have ideas yourself, of what the movement needs on a local and international scale.
How do you perceive solidarity, and what changes would you like to see in the activist movement in the Baltics? Next year, we are expanding the fund, dedicated to growing solidarity in the region.
During the discussion, we want to hear from you, how this fund could be the most beneficial. Ieva and Ezmi from Festival Y?! collective will facilitate Solidarity Works workshop, aiming to find out what the solidarity needs in the Baltics are. They will also introduce Emergency Fund initiative, dedicated to the region’s activists.

Photography is never just a representation of the world as it is, but also a formulation of what the world could be like. With photography utopian ideas can be pursued and become part of the collective memory. Questions of participation are crucial: Who is speaking, which perspective is predominant and who or what remains invisible? Let’s expand our narratives. Anja will show some of her own photographs as well as works by other artists. After this, we will do a photographic exercise on expanding our own perspective.
