POTENTIAL is a music performance about the female body, autonomy, and the choice not to become a mother in Lithuania, initiated by composer and performer Jūra Elena Šedytė. The work explores abortion and examines how legal, political, and moral frameworks shape women's decisions, public discourse, and social expectations.
The performance combines elements of alternative music, R&B, spoken word, and art pop, alongside floorwork and contemporary dance. While addressing an emotionally intense subject, it uses humor and absurdity to balance personal testimony, documentary material, a touch of fiction, playfulness, and protest.
With the authors’ permission, the performance also incorporates texts created by participants in creative writing workshops.
